Prerequisites: Complete Vault 81
Trigger: Speak to Katy
Reward: Grognak the Barbarian, 100 XP
- This short side quest is pretty damned easy, but it requires a little bit of finagling. In order to trigger it you need to speak to Katy, Vault 81’s school teacher. She’s usually in the class room, on the upper floor of the residential section, and when you speak to her she’ll ask you to talk to her class. If you can’t find her in this room, she might be in her quarters on the lower floor.
- Now the tricky part: You need to visit the class when it’s actually in session. This doesn’t seem too bad, but they simply won’t be there if you don’t show up during class hours, which fall between 8 am and 4 pm each day. If you need to jump time ahead, you can either sleep in your own room, assuming you’ve endeared yourself to the people of Vault 81, or in the bunk a few rooms west of the class. For some reason these beds are open for business.
- Story time is pretty short, and you can embellish your tale as much or as little as you like. Once it’s done you’ll complete the quest - yes, it was that simple - and receive a lovely copy of Grognak the Barbarian as recompense for your time.
- (I get the feeling that letting Austin die in Hole in the Wall may bork this quest for you, since he has a speaking role, but I’m honestly not sure. Can anyone confirm or deny? Let me know in the comments.)
