The riverside path to Saintsbridge, the East Saintsbridge Traverse connects the city of Saintsbridge to the rest of the world. You'll find the East Saintsbridge Pass while traveling down the southern bank of the South Clearbrook Traverse. Step cautiously into this area if you're below level 20.
Nice though the area looks, this is still a JRPG. You'll run into the following monsters on the East Saintsbridge Traverse:
- River Froggen IV - Weak to Staff, Ice, and Dark. Can buff its fellow Froggen. Worth wiping out fairly quickly.
- River Froggen V - Weak to Staff, Ice, and Dark. Favors a series of physical melee attacks that damage a single person. Fairly dangerous, but not overly so.
- River Froggen VI - Weak to Sword, Axe, and Ice.
- River Frogking I - Weak to Sword, Staff, Wind, and Dark.
- River Fly - Weak to Polearm, Bow, Ice, and Wind. Swift, but fairly weak, enemies. Befuddling Claw can confuse a party member, so wiping them out quickly with area attacks is advisable.
- River Bug - Weak to Sword, Axe, Staff, and Dark. Likes melee attacks, can buff its party, and can put people to sleep with Soporific Claw. Annoying if you let them live for too long.
- Reptalion - Weak to Axe.
- Salamander - Weak to Dagger, Ice, and Light. Beefy creature that can steal HP from your characters with Swallow Whole while inflicting quite a bit of damage. Stun early to avoid excessive damage.
Trek west from the entrance of the area until you see a bridge leading south. Just to the left of the bridge you'll find a chest containing an Herb of Healing. Go south along the bridge and the path will wind around to a save point at an intersection. If you take a right at the intersection you'll find the Shrine of the Healer. Inspect the altar inside and your team will unlock Apothecary, Alfyn's primary role, as a secondary job.
Head back to the intersection. If you head south from here you'll see a bridge ahead. On your right is a chest containing a Healing Grape (M), and on the left is a Landscape Artist bewailing the state of the art world. He's part of a quest, and among his things is the Final Masterpiece that you can Purchase / Steal. Cross the bridge and you'll see two more NPCs on your left and a chest near them that contains a Rare Stone. The standing River Dweller has a Side Story for you. Further south is an Assiduous Scholar with the Early Ice Thawing info for you to Scrutinize / Inquire, and next to him is a cave entrance. This leads to Farshore, a Danger Level 30 dungeon.
Return to the previous intersection and the save point and go west. Up ahead is a Ruffian who will try, poorly, to extort you. If you Challenge / Provoke him and, if you win, he'll explain his poor situation - and a Kindly Priest will show up to give him a job. (It's part of the A Pilgrim's Plight Side Story. Maybe move this somewhere else.) You'll get 6,600 leaves and a Refreshing Jam for beating the tar out of the poor man. Continue down this road and you'll be in Saintsbridge before you know it.
