The connective tissue between Quarrycrest and Bolderfall to the east, South Quarrycrest Pass is a small - but dangerous - area that you'll need to traverse to reach several Chapter 2 segments. We'll have a look at the pass from the South Bolderfall Pass entrance into the region.
The trip to Quarrycrest through here is short, but you'll still run into some nasty enemies along the way:
- Cliff Birdian IV - Weak to Sword, Polearm, Axe, and Lightning. Melee attacks. No problem.
- Cliff Birdian V - Weak to Sword, Polearm, Axe, and Lightning. Uses pretty basic melee attacks. Mainly a nuisance.
- Cliff Birdian VI - Weak to Polearm, Axe, and Dark. Alongside the usual attacks of its type it can buff the enemy party. Worth killing first, as its physical Skills hit quite hard.
- Cliff Birdking I - Weak to Sword, Polearm, Staff, and Lightning. Buffs its party and then assaults you with powerful physical attacks, including Silencing Arrow, which can, well, silence one character. Annoying. Keep it stunned when you can. Pretty evasive, so use Skills when you can.
- Lloris - Weak to Dagger, Fire, and Wind. Pretty basic melee opponent.
- Long-earned Lloris - Weak to Dagger, Fire, and Wind. Generally uses normal attacks, but can also use Whirling Slash to hit everyone. Painful in general, but quick to stun.
- Great Condor - Weak to Polearm and Bow. Can hit the whole party with Thousand Scythes for decent wind damage.
- King Condor - Weak to Polearm and Bow. An amped-up Great Condor that hits a lot harder on all fronts. Get it stunned as quick as you can.
- Two-handed Hatchling - Weak to Sword, Polearm, and Axe. Specializes in physical attacks. A bit beefy, but nothing special.
- Armor Eater - Weak to Sword, Axe, and Wind. Buffs itself then attacks the party. Doesn't hit that hard, but is difficult to kill because its defenses are so high. Generally safe to leave it until last.
Head west from the entrance. There's a bridge nearby, and on the left side of it you'll find an Herb of Valor. Trek across the bridge and you'll find a save point on the north end. The path splits in several directions from here:
- Go west from the save point and the path will bend north, then west again. Check along the wall on your right while heading north and you'll find a hidden pathway to a purple chest. It contains a Fire Amulet. Follow the westbound road and you'll come to another bridge. If you look to the left of and beneath the bridge you'll find the Shrine to the Prince of Thieves, which will bestow Thief as a secondary job upon your party. Cross the bridge and you'll find an Energizing Pomegranate, as well as the entrance of the South Orewell Pass.
- Go east from the save point and you'll find the entrance to the Derelict Mine, a Danger Level 30 dungeon. As far as dungeons go this one isn't that far out of reach if you can already make your way through the South Quarrycrest Pass.
- Go up the ramps to the north of the save point and you'll find Quarrycrest itself. Yep, that's the end of the area.
