Danger Level: 15
Location: North Cobbleston Gap, a short trip north of the exit to East Rippletide Coast
One of the earliest optional dungeons in Octopath Traveler, the Untouched Sanctum is a great place to cut your adventuring teeth before you head into the game's Chapter 2 segments. The Danger Level is not too high, and the enemies have a lot of elemental weaknesses that you can exploit with magic. Cyrus is great in here, and Ophilia comes a pretty close second in terms of usefulness.
You'll run into the following enemies in the Untouched Sanctum, and the list is pretty long:
- Fire Wisp - Weak to Ice and Dark. All of the Wisps use their respective element to do damage to you, but generally die pretty easily. Target their weaknesses.
- Ice Wisp - Weak to Fire and Light.
- Light Wisp - Weak to Ice and Dark.
- Shadow Wisp - Weak to Fire and Light.
- Thunder Wisp - Weak to Wind and Dark. Has more health than most Wisps and is much more dangerous, but works more or less the same.
- Wind Wisp - Weak to Lightning and Light. Same as the Thunder Wisp.
- Ambling Bones - Weak to Staff, Wind, and Light. Basic skeletal melee enemy. Should fall easily.
- Puppet Bones - Weak to Staff, Fire, and Light. A bit on the slow side, but hits hard. Can use Horrific Claw to lock away one character's Boosting for a few turns.
- Marionette Bones - Weak to Staff, Wind, and Light. Basically the same enemy as Puppet Bones but with a different weakness.
- Shadow Bat - Weak to Sword, Polearm, Bow, and Ice. Can drain your health and put everyone to sleep. Fortunately frail, so you should prioritize taking these things out first.
- Dread Viper - Weak to Polearm, Axe, and Dark. Can use Constrict to knock one of your characters unconscious. Pretty annoying.
- Highland Goat - Weak to Sword, Polearm, and Light. Hefty beast that hits hard. Stun it and take out the other enemies first.
Follow the winding path until you reach a save point. Take a left here and you'll find a chest containing an Inspiriting Plum. To the left of this chest is a hidden path that will take you below the ground and over to the east, where you'll find a chest containing a Pole Mace.
Trek back to the save point and go south. On the right is a chest that contains a Healing Grape (M). To the left is a path that leads south to another intersection. Head towards the torch on the right to find a purple chest containing a Sharp Nut. Also here is a stone tablet that you can read by using Allure / Guide on Noelle, in Cobbleston.
Keep following the path to the west, then north. At the end you'll find two chests, one containing an Inspiriting Plum (M), the other an Olive of Life (M). These two items will bring your trip through here to an end unless you come by on a quest, so warp out to a town and get yourself healed up.
