With Team Plasma dead and buried you can finally get back to the important business of Pokémon Black 2 and White 2: Becoming the Champion of the Pokémon League. One of your final stops on that path is Route 23, located on the west end of Giant Chasm's interior section. With Team Plasma gone the exit to Route 23 is now unblocked.
The first thing you'll notice on Route 23 is a small cabin. The Ace Trainer inside will fully restore your Pokémon, which is handy if you're coming straight from Giant Chasm without a stop in Lacunosa Town. South of the cabin is a Heart Scale that you can reach using either Cut or Surf.
Travel north and you'll run into your first trainer. You can also Surf right past her if you don't feel like fighting.
Battle Girl Brenda
- Throh, level 53
Reward: 1,696 P
Head north along the banks of the stream. There's another trainer ahead whom you can also skip, assuming your timing is good and you wait for him to look away.
Ace Trainer Grant
- Emolga, level 53
- Jellicent, level 53
Reward: 3,180 P
And, continuing to follow the path along the stream, you'll find another trainer whom you can easily skip by Surfing.
Hiker Don
- Piloswine, level 51
- Probopass, level 51
Reward: 1,632 P
At the end of the stream you'll find some stairs leading to the cliffs above. You'll also find another small hut. Inside the hut is an old man who will give you TM35 Flamethrower, one of the best Fire-type moves in the game. At the top of the stairs you'll find your next opponent.
Ace Trainer Juliet
- Swanna, level 53
- Galvantula, level 53
Reward: 3, 180 P
Cross the bridge to Juliet's right and you'll find a dead end. Check the spot with the flower on it for a Rare Candy. To Juliet's left the path splits again. Head south, across the bridge, and you'll find two trainers. One's patrolling on your right, while one is hiding under a green heap on the other side of another bridge to the south.
Black Belt Luke
- Sawk, level 53
Reward: 1,696 P
Pokémon Ranger Steve
- Stunfisk, level 52
- Amoonguss, level 52
Reward: 3,120 P, Sitrus Berry
Sitting in the grass to the left of Luke is an Amoonguss, disguised as an item ball. South of Luke is a hidden Star Piece, an Iron, and another Star Piece. You can get to the second Star Piece much more quickly if you have Cut, but it's not a necessity - and if you go south you can also find a Hidden Grotto. Sitting behind Steve is TM05 Roar.
Head back north, then turn west. There's a trainer waiting just before the path turns north.
Pokémon Ranger Lena
- Floatzel, level 53
- Lucario, level 53
Reward: 3,180 P, Sitrus Berry
North of Lena - as she herself notes - you'll find the entrance to Victory Road, where you'll be checked to ensure that you have all of the gym badges. If you feel like skipping the rest of Route 23, now's your chance. If not, though, you have an opportunity to challenge more trainers and collect more items - assuming one of your Pokémon knows Cut.
Head west and you'll find a tree to Cut. Further east you'll find a narrow forest with a few semi-hidden trainers dwelling within. We'll ignore that for a moment and look to the south, where the path opens up. This area is a bit open-ended with a lot of weird paths and dead ends, so we'll use bullet points to explore. First the forest in the north:
- There are four trainers to fight in here: Miki, Tom, Doug, and Benjamin. If you move carefully through the trees it's not that difficult to avoid them all.
- On the east side of the forest you'll find a hidden Repeat Ball.
- To the left of Doug is an Amoonguss.
- Along a westbound path to the north of Benjamin you'll find an HP Up.
- You can move Benjamin out of the way by challenging him and slip down a southbound path. It leads to some ledges to the southern area, as well as a Calcium.
Ace Trainer Miki
- Scolipede, level 54
- Arcanine, level 54
Reward: 3,240 P
Ace Trainer Tom
- Magmar, level 54
- Mamoswine, level 54
Reward: 3,240 P
Hiker Doug
- Boldore, level 53
- Aggron, level 53
Reward: 1,696 P
Black Belt Benjamin
- Gurdurr, level 53
- Scrafty, level 53
Reward: 1,696 P
Next we'll check out the rock-filled area in the south. You need to move the boulders down here in a particular order to fill in all the gaps:
- Push the nearby rock from your starting point out of your way to get at a Full Heal.
- Push the rock to the left of the Full Heal south until it hits smaller rocks.
- Loop around the forest, heading west and south, until you reach the pond. On the south side of the pond is a rock to push to the right, creating a path between the pond and field of boulders.
- Push the left-most rock one square left, then go back to the pond to get to the side of this same rock. Push the rock north two spaces. Last, cross the pond to the west to get at the left side of the rock once again and push it into the nearest hole.
- Putting that last rock in position will put you beside another rock. Push it east until it falls into a hole.
- Push the nearest rock one space to the right, then loop around to the top of the rock and push it south until it falls into a hole.
- This will give you access to the final rock. Push it east to fill one last hole.
Sitting near the last rock is an Amoonguss, and down and to the right of its starting point is a hidden Yellow Shard. North of the Amoonguss you'll find a Green Shard. Up the stairs you can now access you'll find the Route's final trainer.
Battle Girl Tiffany
- Gurdurr, level 53
- Mienshao, level 53
Reward: 1,696 P
Up and to the right of Tiffany's patrol route is a Max Potion hidden behind a tree. North of her patrol route, across a bridge, you'll find a hidden PP Up. West of here and across another bridge you'll find TM12 Taunt. This is the end of Route 23's side questing, which means it's time to head to Victory Road. At last.
Return Trip
Once you've beaten the game you can visit the Cave of Being on Route 20 and send three Legendary Pokémon on a trip throughout Unova. Just past the tree you can Cut near the Victory Road exit on Route 23 you can find Azelf, one of the three, on a small ledge.
