Route 2: Avance Trail Pokémon
  • Bunnelby - Uncommon, Tall Grass
  • Caterpie - Rare, Tall Grass - Pokémon Y only
  • Fletchling - Uncommon, Tall Grass
  • Pidgey - Rare, Tall Grass
  • Scatterbug - Uncommon, Tall Grass
  • Weedle - Rare, Tall Grass - Pokémon X only
  • Zigzagoon - Rare, Tall Grass
Directly north of Aquacorde Town is the first patch of grass in Pokémon X and Y. Patches of grass on the overworld contain wild Pokémon, and you'll get into random battles if you run around in one. Once in battle, you can whittle down the wild Pokémon's HP with attacks and, if you're lucky, use a Poké Ball to catch it for your team. The Pokémon available in this particular area are listed above. Grabbing a Flying-type (Fletchling or Pidgey) will help you get through the upcoming gym challenge.

Walk through the grass to see a cut scene on catching Pokémon. At the end of it you'll receive ten Poké Balls. Proceed north. Not a whole lot to see here… though when you reach the end of the trail, you'll run into a trainer who's blocking the path forward. As soon as you interrupt his line of sight he'll challenge you to a battle. You can't run from trainer battles, so make sure your lead Pokémon is ready to fight.

Youngster Austin
  • Zigzagoon, Level 5
Reward: 120 P

Beyond Austin lays Santalune Forest, your next destination.

Santalune Forest Pokémon
  • Caterpie - Rare, Tall Grass
  • Fletchling - Uncommon, Tall Grass
  • Kakuna - Rare, Tall Grass - Pokémon X only
  • Metapod - Rare, Tall Grass - Pokémon Y only
  • Panpour - Rare, Tall Grass
  • Pansage - Rare, Tall Grass
  • Pansear - Rare, Tall Grass
  • Pikachu - Rare, Tall Grass
  • Scatterbug - Uncommon, Tall Grass
  • Weedle - Rare, Tall Grass
When you enter Santalune Forest Shauna will decide to join you, and will follow you throughout the Forest. Talk to her any time you like for a quick pick-me-up for your Pokémon. This is especially useful if you run into any Weedles and they poison your Pokémon.

Start by going left. Directly west of the entrance, just beyond a patch of grass, is an Antidote. North of the Antidote, still in the grass, is a Potion. Backtrack to the entrance and head north. You'll find a Potion on your right.

Follow the eastern path from the entrance. North of the usual gang of rivals you'll see a trainer standing by himself. Check the grassy area just south and to the right of him and Shauna will find you a Paralyze Heal. Then, if you feel up to it (you should), challenge the trainer. If you aren't interested, though, you can go around him on the right.

Youngster Joey
  • Scatterbug, level 3
  • Fletchling, level 3
Reward: 72 P

Keep following the path as it twists south. Speak to Calem / Serena along the way and they'll give you a Poké Ball. Down the path from your rival you'll run into another trainer.

Lass Anna
  • Pikachu, level 5
Reward: 250 P

The path splits as you head south. To the left you'll find a Potion, as well as the exit. To the right you'll find a trainer who's blocking the way to a Poké Ball.

Lass Lise
  • Weedle, level 2
  • Bunnelby, level 4
Reward: 96 P

And that's all for Santalune Forest. On your way out Calem / Serena will give you Adventure Rules, which consists of tips for new trainers. Once everyone's done talking you'll be off to your next destination, Santalune City. Ready for your first gym battle?

Return Trip

After upgrading your Mega Ring in Anistar City, come back to Santalune Forest. Enter the forest through the southern exit and check the long patch of grass to the north between 8 and 9 PM. You'll see a dark sparkle. In Pokémon X this sparkle is Pinsirite, while in Pokémon Y it's Heracronite.
