Danger Level: 50
An eerie, often disconcerting home on the west end of the Leaflands, House Wellows Manor is located to the south of Timberain. Head south of Timberain to the South Timberain Trail, then look for a split in the path once you cross the bridge out of the city. If you go west from the save point on the south end of the bridge you'll find the path to the manor. You can enter via a ladder on the left side of the manor.
Enemies
- Dark Sentinel Mk. II - Weak to Sword, Polearm, Axe, Staff, Light - Drop / Steal Shadow Soulstone (M)
- Demon Deer - Weak to Sword - Drop / Steal Primeval Horn Elixir
- Shadow Remnant Mk. II - Weak to Sword, Polearm, Axe, Light - Drop / Steal Shadow Soulstone (L)
- Shadow Revenant - Weak to Sword, Bow, Staff, Light - Drop / Steal Inspiriting Plum Basket
The manor is large, but exploring it won't take long. The enemy encounter rate is suspiciously low, and there's not that much ground to cover. You should nevertheless pop into each of the rooms to see what's inside:
- The first two doors next to the save point in the east wing lead to a dining hall. There's an Olive of Life (L) in the chest on the east side of the hall.
- The right room on the ground floor in the east wing has a chest inside. The chest contains Cursed Armor. Equip this on someone who's wearing a Blessing in Disiguise for a fantastic boost to their defensive capabilities.
- There's a landing with a fireplace, a piano, and a chest on the ground floor, between two staircases. The chest contains a Healing Grape Bunch.
- The large room on the upper floor of the west wing has a ladder sticking up out of the floor. Climb down and you can get into a room on the ground floor. Inside is a chest containing a Forbidden Axe, another item that pairs well with a Blessing in Disguise.
There are two reasons to come to House Wellows Manor, aside from the items. The first is to collect Primeval Horn Elixirs from the Devil Deer that occasionally appear inside the manor. You need three of these to unlock one of the Apothecary Licenses in Conning Creek. They appear somewhat irregularly, but it shouldn't take too long to track down three of the beasts.
The other reason is to complete a Side Story: A Mysterious Box.
A Mysterious Box
While exploring Merry Hills you can come across a Young Collector. He's standing on the east side of the Shrine of Ul'sterra, in the north of Merry Hills. The collector seems quite troubled, and he's carrying a Mysterious Box. Purchase / Steal / Mug it off of him and he'll pass out, seemingly relieved.
Trek to House Wellows Manor. On the way a mystery voice will tell you to 'give it back'. Enter the manor and look in the central room on the upper floor, during the night. There's a Woman in the Ruins inside this room, and if you give her the Mysterious Box she will recompense you with 6,666 leaves and a Reaper's Sickle. Eerie, but... treasure is nice.
