The first of what would be a surprisingly long line of RPGs based around the Super Mario universe, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars starts off as one might expect. Princess Toadstool is in trouble, and Mario needs to rescue her. The usual beat-up-Bowser schtick quickly goes off the rails, however, and Mario must recruit a party of familiar - and unfamiliar - friends to save the world. Lots of gags, shenanigans, and jumps ensue.
Despite its turn-based similarities to other Square games of its time, Super Mario RPG is also action-oriented, at least to a degree. Be prepared to flex your platforming muscles as you make your way through the game.
